I'm in the process of upgrading my single hooks on spoons and replacing the trebles to singles on others.

My "regular" size spoons (ie; Maulers) are getting 3/0 Gamkatsu Siwash hooks. What about my magnum Moonshines - or any magnum size spoon. I'm thinking about a 4/0. Is that to big? At what point does a hook become to large?

I used 4/0 gama singles on all my "Brand X" spoons, regular and magnum.

I use 4/0 octipus style hooks on all of my flys and a lot of my mag spoons. I think I get better hookups on both with these hooks.

I use 3/0 red gamy siwash open eye on mag spoons, and 2/0 on regular spoons. I tie flies with tandem single 3/0 red gamys.

I use 4/0 siwashes on all my regular and mag sized spoons.
They work great, the only thing I use 3/0 on is the smaller size like josh's new walleye sized raiders and stinger scorpions.
I wouldn't have a treble on my spoons, although I have run a few fuzzies with the stock trebles before I changed them over and they seem to work fine.
I just like the singles too much for ease of storage, deeper hooksets and less net tangling. Not to mention less chance of becoming too "attached" to your spoon if you know what I mean.

I use a 1/0 Gamakatsu nickel siwash for mini spoons, a 2/0 Gamakatsu nickel siwash for standard sized spoons & a 3/0 Gamakatsu nickel siwash for magnums.

Nothing scientific, but just keeping it simple Pat.

speaking of using single hooks on spoons I have thought of switching from trebels as well. Do you guys use a snell knot for that and does anyone have a good link to refresh my memory how to tie it up? Tom "My Addiction"

There are other ways to snell, but I find this the easiest way for me.
