Frank,
Well, since I completely toasted my motor this past weekend at the EA outing, I need to repower the boat. It currently has a 3.0 liter 4 cylinder in it but I would like to step up to a V-8. 1988 Bayliner Trophy with a OMC Cobra sterndrive. What am I looking at price wise and would you be interested in doing the work? No big rush. Just so long as it's ready by next spring. Thanks.

when changing the motor size the uper half of the drive would also need to be changed because the biger motor would require a diferent gear ratio . by the time you do this it is more cost efective to change the whole package (eng drive, transome bracket and stern drive ) volvo offers some kits to get the job done with all new stuff if the budget permits this is the best way to go other than that we would have to find a used cobra v8 eng and a drive used to keep the price down . we can lay out a few options and let you decide how is best for you to handle the job then usually you have to redesighn the motor cover to close in the larger power plant . a v6 might be be the beter choice if the boat is les than 22'
