Hot Looking New Plugs!

I've long been a fan of trolling plugs like J-Plugs, Ace-Hi Canadians and Orcas but these new extended glow plugs by Wolverine Tackle look like they could be my new favorites. I'll be placing an order this week and can't wait to get them wet. No... it's not too early in the year. I catch fish on plugs all season long and there are a lot of days that they outfish spoons or flies and everything else even in the spring. If you will be fishing in any tournaments against Team EO disregard this , if not then check these out!

Got any idea the quality and type of hooks with rigging they're gonna come with?

I did some checking and they in fact do not come with hook harnesses. That's ok with me however since I have a big pile of unused harnesses. When I change plugs I just grab a new body and use the same harness. I recently tied some harnesses up with Dacron and Gamakatsu EWG's to see if that style of hook will do as good of job under plugs as they do on spoons and flies.

Wolverine introduced those plugs under a different name several years ago, Candyman will remember the name I can't. They were very good for coho and an occasional chinook. They are a little bit smaller than a J plug and have a bit more of an erratic motion.

Mike
Are you referring to the Woodchuck? I'm pretty sure that these are different but could be wrong. For size I've been told that they are comparable to a #4 J.

The thing that has me excited is the extended glow. With normal glow plugs the first one I put down has lost it's glow by the time I get the last one down. That leaves me faced with the dilemma to either continually cycle my plugs back in for re-charging or leave glowless glows out there. I could get some extended glow paints and doctor up some of my conventionals or try to track down some Everglow J's but like everything else, I'm sure that these Wolverines will have days that they smoke the others.

Jim--the pics I saw on the website do look an awful lot like the Wolverine Woodchucks I used to use about 15 yrs ago. The Woodchuck came, I think, in only 2 sizes, and the largest was no bigger that a #3 J. I used them for 3-4 years, and they do have a great action, but if the newer item is the size of a #4J, then it's quite a bit larger that any woodchuck I saw. If they have a high-quality ultra glow paint job, then they would definitely be something I would want to add to my asst. I would be interested in knowing what the bodies are made of. The ones I had many years ago were made of wood, and they tended to absorb moisture, swell, and then the paint would crack and chip off. I still have a couple, but haven't ran then in many years. Verrry Interesting. That Chart/firedot one looks like it would be an absolute killer for late-season coho!!!

These are molded plastic and they are about the size of #4 J's.

They are size 4's the woodchucks are much smaller and yes wolverine still makes them. The Streak plugs have much more rattle to them than the j-plugs.

4 hour on the glow yellow tail with out a bump...at the same time the sliver with red face and green glow black ladder back LJ j-plugs were taking fish. The sliver streak seems heavyer and had a slower action in the water

Having great success with the new(er) Everglo J-plugs. Green and lime have been hot behind 7 colors lead in and around Port Sheldon. Regular green glow and chrome red head have been good too. All with rattles.

Was given one of the new J everglos in silver with blue back. Put it out on a 3 color swr Sun & Mon and took three fish on it in a total of 6hrs of fishing. Good enough that I'll keep using it. I'll probably invest in a small asst of everglos over the winter.
