So if you are considering a purchase of a boat This formula works much like a stock market selection guide . Here is how it works

When calculating the real cost of a boat we must consider this formula

lets start with some simple definitions

purchase price of the boat=ppb

cost to maintain =ctm

days of use =dou

trade in value when you eventually sell it =tiv

Ok now here we go with the calculation

take the

ppb+ctm and divide by the dou then subtract the tiv

This gives you a great reference number to consider when trying to make those hard purchasing decisions. We call this the real value number of the boat

also i found this great post about reality of buying a boat it is about catamarans but its rationality can be applied to just about any boat.

Who says boats are expensive? I took my sons and two of their buddies to a base ball game last summer I spent 500 bucks by the time i bought tickets hot dogs soda pop (not even one beer) and parking no t shirts hats or any of that junk 500.00 and we where done in a few hours.

I take these same kids out fishing for the whole day and i don't quite spend a 100 on it . We where all sitting around the other day and the fishing trips keep coming up" Mr. Martin remember when that king i caught was ripping out the line ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZ ZZZZZZZZZZ ZZZZ and then at the same time the lead core went off " yada yada yada not a word about the white sox game we went to .

like the credit card commercial said "PRICELESS"

The Boats are well worth the expense and add to our quality of life
