how many of us know every two years or so you are suposed to re seal all transome bolts with new sealer?
this includes motor mount bolts trim tab screws swim platform bolts and screws . with a good grade marine sealer . 100% of the people that have had transome rot now know this . you dont have to wait till your transome has rot problems to find out ! OUCH!!$$$$
just take one screw or bolt out at a time scrape as much of the old sealer off as posible put some fresh stuff on the bolts and re install! spend the saved money on MORE FISHING!!! HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

I'm not trying to step on Frank's toes, but I have been told that unless you want to permanently (i.e. NEVER remove) something, that you should not use 3M 5200. If you are interested in removing and/or potentially reinstalling something then 3M 4200 or Boatlife Marine Life Caulk. Hope this helps.

best to check with the boat or motor manufacturer dont know what the specific part numbers are for the sealers but do no that 5200 by 3m would not be the best choice for this job.. most manufacturers recomend a non hardening poly sulfide formula every calk maker has a diferent # designation
