hey all. is ther a rule to the color of flasher and color of fly that i should use?
should the color of fly be the same or close to the same as my spindoctor or flasher.
or should i match the color of my flasher to the water condition and the fly to the type of day (brite/cloudy) or the other way around?.

I'm certaintly no expert with regards to flasher/fly combos, but in my experience I tend to match the colors for the most part. For instance, I have had very good luck with blue spin doctors and blue flies, same thing with green SD & green flies. When it comes to white flashers you have several choices and alot depends on what depth you are fishing, weather conditions (cloudy or sunny), etc.

Hope this helps.

fishin fool,
Like puckstop, I am not an expert. I do catch plenty of fish on FF rigs. Lots of guys including myself will match Flashers and Flies. However, lots of times fish like the colors differently. Like a white fly on a green flasher. Or take the mirage fly. what does that match? Last year a good rig was a purple mirage fly behind a green flasher? doesnt match, but it worked in low light. I have noticed my blue rigs work better during low light in the morning or evening, and the greens seem to work better in the sun. White seems to just always work, but especially the 11" white in the dirty river mouth water. Basically if you have a selection of white, green, blue and black flashers and blue, green, white, black, mirage flies, you will catch fish on them. Mix it up and see what happens. you might come out with the new best combo.
