Was paroozing the New Cabelas fishing catalog and notice some new Line counter reels.

The one that I had not heard of was the SeaStrike, it was a neat lolking design that had the counter mounted verticaly and fit snug into the reel frame.

The other was the Shakspere Tidwater...looks like they have re-designed the reel to look a lot like the Shimono Tekota. The line counter looks very similar.

Have any of you seen or used the Seastrike reels?

Conrad,

I've heard nothing but bad news about the Tidewaters...although a lot of guys use them. Seems the clickers break all the time, and the linecounters are (used to be anyway) a POS.

Maybe the newer models are better....but the price is right. I've never seen a Seastrike either...

Don't waste your time on the Shakespeare line counters. I had three out of four fail in two seasons of fishing. The clicker design is junk and also had some problems with the drag system. Switched over to the Daiwa line counters. Definitely a much better reel.
