Maumee river temp is at 43 degrees this morning...the warm overnight rain really spiced things up...

I can hear those walleye engines revving up at the mouth already..."must find BFG's floater...must find BFG's floater..."

I'd say there will be fishable numbers in the Orleans park and Ft. Meigs areas by the end of the weekend. Water will be on the rise for the next couple of days, so BE CAREFUL if you decide to fish the BlueGrass Island area....no need to have to call the Search and Rescue for you....

Good luck to those of you that get out over the weekend, and post up your success!!!

Thank God winter is over....

48 degrees this morning. Should be good by early next week after the water recedes from all of the rain that we received last night.

Go gettum

Clark,

Looks like the fishing will be good when we come up at the end of the month.

Go Bucks

Current water level is at 585', which is about 2.5' above what is safe for boaters. Wader fisherman have been trying in the Orleans Park area the last couple of days with some success. Water temp is around 46 degrees as of this morning. Forecasted 3" of snow will not help this situation, along with the cold temps.

The fish should be there..but getting out to them is going to be tough for the next few days. The water is the color of chocolate milk...which further impedes any and all efforts.

Reports from those fishing the big lake have been mixed...but it would seem the best catches are coming from out of the Catawba State Park area near Port Clinton. The pattern this time of year is the same as that utilized through the ice....jigging spoons tipped with minnows. Swedish pimples and Rapala jigging baits with stinger hooks have been working when fish have been located. Please note that the "single hook" restriction does not apply to the areas East of Maumee Bay.

My suspicions were correct....many walleyes taken yesterday afternoon around the Orleans park area. Apparently a nice push of fish has found its way up to the spawning grounds.

Water is at 584' today, slowly dropping. Temp this AM was about 46 degrees, water clarity is still awful. This weekend should be good.

The intial push of fish from last week has moved upriver to the Buttonwood/Jerome Rd. area. Fishing around Orleans is reported as poor, as well as the area around Fort Meigs.

Best bet is to head upstream. That's where I'll be later today.
