What are some good rods for fishing with leadcore?

I like the Diawa Heartlands rods, for pretty much everything. I have full cores on the 9'6" heavy action rods and like them. Some guys like shorter rods also, which is a prefrence thing. Heartlands can be had for about $30. I've got them for almost everything, riggers, boards, dipseys, flat lines etc.

I like the Shimano TDR 9 and 9 1/2 footers in the medium to medium heavy, these are very nice for the price. If price were less of an object I would get the Shimano Taloras with there specific leadcore rod series.

If price were no object at all I'd get the RP2 with the swivel roller tip - which I may try a couple of this year.

Do they have to be that long? I am looking at 7 or 7.6 and will be running off shore planers with them, I want them to fit inside of my rod locker. This is out of a 1850 fishawk

I don't see why the shorter rods wouldn't work - Salmonhead runs a 7' Talora for his 21 color - we nicknamed it the Tuna Stick the only obvious disadvantage is the angle from the rod tip to the planer board - higher runs better in my expereince but that can be remedied by where the rods are place - for example a bird tree or the like.

on the other hand 8 and 9 fot roods are two piece and easily break down and I assume would fit quite nicely in your rod storage.

I run 8'6" Penn "Power Sticks" On all my lead core rods put one. I prefer a little shorter rod because the two main boats I fish out of are smaller and it makes it easier to handle the fish.
I do have one Full core set up with a Tekota reel and Tallus rod 7'..That is the only full core rod on the boat we fight over on who gets to reel it in....The set up is sweet.

I had used 10-11' rods the last 3 years but thought I would try the shimano talora 8' rod this year and I think it is much better than the longer rods I have used in the past.I reeled in a 15+# king on a full core last week and I think the rod is quite an improvement over what I have used in the past.

We have run alot of short lead core rods and love them. Is there an advantage? I don't think so. Personal prefeerance I guess. They are nice for running copper. Sometimes lifting the board out of the water is more difficult with the shorter rods. RP2 makes some awesome rods and would highly recomend them.

I run 7' Okuma Classic Pro rods for my full cores for the simple reason that they fit in my 7-1/2' rod locker without breaking down. They seem to work just fine.

I prefer the Shimano Talora LC rods with the larger eyes. All the talora rods have a great feel to them and load nicely with a fish on them. The 7' is one piece and the 8 and 9 footers are 2 piece.

I bought 2 South Bend Catmaster rods on clearance at Gander Mountain last year. they are 7' MH and pull an in-line out of the water like nobodies business. Good rod for the price and handle fish nice.
