Well Hook,

There is a lot of theory behind the use of leadcore, I'll try to give a number of reasons why it's different.

It is more a steath approach than a diver - the diver is displacing water and making noise - which may be good is some cases - but leadcore doesn't make those disturbances.

leadcore has a rise and fall to it so as the speed changes or the waves affect it - the core is pulsing up and down - which means making a better wounded bait presentation with the lure

the leadcore in most cases is much farther behind the boat and further away from the side - so for spooky fish it can be more productive than near boat presentations.

Also, in some cases when a fish has passed a bite on the near boat presentation they may pickup a core as it comes by somewhat later.

There are many more reasons why core is different than divers - those are just some quick ones.

Once set up. leadcore is flat out simple to use. You simply clip on a lure, let it out and you are fishing. You can run it out to the side of your boat on a planerboard or outrigger if you want (helpful but not absolutely necessary). Longest core on the inside, next longest next etc out to the shortest core on the outside.
