Guys with whom I fish typically target 1.5-2.0 mph when pulling divers, discs, cranks, and jets in the warm water months, somewhat slower in the early spring and fall.

I've taken fish over 2.5 mph, but they were snappin' that day.



Harnesses require slooooow speeds...like .8-1.4 mph. Too fast and the "spin out," which is not good.

Went to a PWT weigh-in at Port Clinton on Good Friday a few years back, and the #1 presentation for that weekend (according to the winner) was a firetiger hatchet harness 10' behind a black diver (standard ring) at 1.3 mph.

Those boys had some pigs...wow...
