Capt. D,

Are you using Snap weights between the harness and the board? And if so, what is your normal "starting weight?" i.e. 1oz, 2oz, etc.

I'll be tying up my own harnesses this spring, and I had anticipated making them longer than the standard 36" that you see in retail stores. 5' was going to be my starting poing...glad to hear I'm not too far off base!
