I think the biggest advantage is that there are no eyes to get your line wrapped around. One of the biggest negatives besides the fleas is trying to get braided line down the length of the rod. The inner flows come with a wire to assist in this but if it gets a kink in it they are useless. 20# mono goes through ok but 30# is better.
