The monthly meeting of Salmon Unlimited Illinois will be held on tuesday 2/12/2008 at 7:30 pm in the Park Ridge VFW Hall. The VFW hall is located at the corner of Canfield and Higgins less than 1 mile east of Cumberland and Hooters.

Our program for this month's meeting will be "the outlook for Lake Michigan for 2008". The speaker will be Dan Makauskas (one of our Illinois Lake Mich Fisheries Biologists) who will talk about how the salmon and trout sportsman harvests look for 2008. Of importance will be to hear about population estimates(both predator and prey) and the value of the fin clip program, participated in by our club, to successful fishery management.

Looking ahead to March, the program for that meeting (3/11/0 will be "outfitting your boat for Lake Michigan fishing". This subject will be especially helpful to first timers and those who are looking for ideas to update their boat. We will be talking about boat equipment and fishing tackle options with an eye to shortcuts to help keep the cost more affordable. The program is designed with lots of opportunites for time to ask questions of the speakers and there will be time after the meeting for additional questions.

The annual Swap meet is right around the corner now and is coming up on Saturday March 1, 2008. Our Swap meet is probably the biggest garage sale for fishermen in the western hemisphere. It should be on your must list of places to go in the off season. Lots of new and used fishing/boating equipment at great prices and a chance to say hello to a lot of friends you know from the lake. If you want to have a table at the swap meet to sell from, you can call the Salmon Unlimited Office. The deadline for table reservations is 2/9/2008. $25 per table for SU paid up members and $40 for non-members. The Swap meet will be held at St. Viators Church Gymn at 3644 Kedvale in Chicago (easy exit from the Kennedy at Addison). For more information call 630-688-3172.

Don't forget to bring your dues money for 2008 to the meeting if you haven't already mailed it in.

Some of the meeting will be allocated to finalizing details for our 2008 tournaments.

Refreshments will be available and a tackle raffle will be held.

The meeting is open to the public. Come and meet some people who talk fish.
