Is it posible ?
I think so
During this time of high gas prices scaring everybody, I wanted to make a point that could possibly make you feel a little better. You have to follow the numbers, but you will see the point at the end.
In 1985 most outboards were carbureted two cycle engines. These engines were loud, fuel thirsty, mostly unreliable and spewed out pollutants. Gasoline averaged a little over $2.00 per gallon just coming off a high of around $2.75 in 1981. check refferenece http://www.urban.org/UploadedPDF/10...act_7-18-05.pdf
An average day of boating would consume around 10-15 gallons of gas using a V4 engine from the late 80’s. That would be between $20.00 and $41.25 per day.
Today using a Honda BF90 will give you over 7 mpg at cruise. On a comparable boat, you might use 3 or possibly 4 gallons. check reference. http://www.boattest.com/boats/1309/...st_results.aspx
The engine is smooth, reliable and since it is a 4 cycle engine, the emissions are much lower than traditional two stroke engines.
The Truth is, you can actually boat cheaper with a Honda powered boat today than you could with a typical 2 cycle outboard of the same horsepower in 1985!
So ----------- Come by calumet Marine today to see our Honda powered boats from the Hewes Craft 16’ open fisherman with a Honda BF20 to the Extreme World Cat 270 HT with Honda 225 twins, or consider repowering your current boat with a new Honda outboard, then go fishing and don’t feel like you are breaking the bank!
