Just the opposite on the West side of Lake Michigan. Over the past few years we are seeing fewer and fewer Lake Trout.
We fish out of Northpoint Marina which is located on the IL/WI statelines. The old Lake Trout capital of Lake Michigan WAS Racine, WI, just 15 miles north of our harbor. Big Lake Trout are an item of the past out of Racine - it was common to catch six trout for a tourney averaging over 15 lbs each. Fish over 15 lbs are now a rarity.
So far this year we have caught only 1 Laker and our King numbers are up, both in numbers and in size. Hope this trend continues.
