first how is the oil psi at warm idle? have you done compression chks on all cyl? Any salt water history? Pressure test cooling system and block. Ok everything pass's replace the oil pump replace the timing set and water pump and fuel pump. While you have pan off roll the motor over and chk the bottom of the cyl bores see how much play there is between the pistons and cyl bores. Don't know how much you want to spend but not much scense it putting it in and having to take it back out unless you are planning on just getting a season or 2 out of it. Also keep in mind if the donor was used for water sking it probably spent most of it's life at or near full throttle. Good luck
