Its like the ruler and the scale to the tournament director
the noa weather station lists the recorded waves electoniclally every ten minuts from markers in the lake they average up by the foot every ten minuts . so if the weather channel says there is 6-10 foot waves on the lake in your area the marker has recorded in the last ten minuts a wave of at least 9.1 foot and none less than 6 . this is what the weather station personell told us at a salmon unlimited meeting last year . there are allways some rouge waves that dont hit the weather marker that dont get recorded and will often explain the spikes in recorded wave heiths and a wave of less than one foot are considered calm
this however does not take into effect how close the waves are to each other and if they are coming from multiple directions as the case when a wave bounces off a steel wall . from my experience from fishing on the lake every area is diferent and a 10 foot wave up north in open water is a piece of cake compared to a 6 footer down on the south end that has been bouncing off all kinds of steel walls . hope we can all enjoy calm sea and lots of fish but thats not going to happen is it? so have some fun catch some fish respect the weather be safe the funs is all over is some one gets hurt
