thats a big order for one post
first on the compreshion test it is more inportant that all the cylinders test with in 15% of each other this is because compreshion numbers can be efected by batery and starter condition most genrerally the number should be in excess of 100 psi , please dont forget to take a good look at the out drive, The part hanging over the back of the boat can be at least as expensive to fix as the engine inside some times even more so .
a compreshion test on a 6 cyliner should be NO more than two hours labor expence at the most . If a dealer is selling you the boat these tests should be suplied for free
marine surveyors very inportant when it comes to have the hull checked out price can vary a ton call around and ask for a estimated cost make sure the surveyor you choose has the equipment to check the stringers for rot and moisture content .
botom paint peals if the boat has been out of the water for a couple years and has had layer opon layer put on over the years at the very least the bottom should be stripped and a good barrier coat put on the a couple coats of good fresh bottom paint applied
last but not laest dont buy any thing you cant take for test ride unless you out rite steal it or some one gives it to you for free
