Just wondering how many times out where cut out this year because of gas prices?
I Know I did not get out as much as I did the year before mostly because of problems/pain in the knees
Seemed to me the fishing on the south end was better than I could remember in quite a few years
Fish seemed to stay out in deeper water as the trend has been the last few years but we seemed to catch more limits and bigger fish
The thing that was weird no boats out there. It was like down town Chicago on super bowl Sunday with the Bears playing
Erie feeling Cant help to think this added to our success fishing there was certainly less fishing pressure on this area
Looks like gas will be back to 2 bucks a gallon if we are lucky Hope to see more boats out there next season!
The fish caught a break this year !

Thanks to all my great friends for macking it out with us this year!

I haven't gone thru the log yet, but number of trips this year was up and pretty sure our fish/trip was up too.

Screw high gas prices, you only get so many fishing seasons. I cut back elsewhere. Hopefully the recent trend in oil prices continues and we're back at 50/bbl next summer. Be nice to see prices at the marina in the 2.00-2.50 range like back in '04.

Out more often but lot of shorter trips and less limit catches. Much of that do to changing my fishing style due to high gas cost. As such many of my trips became highly planned so I would decide on a location and program and go out and run it for a couple hours. If it worked great if not most of the time I would just run in rather than run to another location to fish. So a lot of times I would end up with 2 or 3 fish and head back in but I got more trips per tank. So by mid July I figured I was doing ok with this setup and was able to fish more often. For others this approach would not work but I am 20 min from the boat launch and was able to get out 3 to 4 times a week all summer I only got skunked 3 times out of Muskegon this year with this program. 2 of those skunks were fishing out front after the run hoping to catch a few late fish.
