This new computer sucks ASS! My wife's new lap top SUCKS! its been back to HP 3 times(thanks Tom for the DUO)! New hard drive, new mother board or some #$%&'n thing, and then the battery has gone out 2 times. Now we get(it was gone 2 weeks) it back and it still sucks! My question is.....is it the VISTA home premium? or is it HP? Or is it my wireless Comcast?

The computer freezes up, runs slower than my 2001 toshiba on the net, you have to click #$%# like 6-8 times for it to open! The damn thing may get thrown out in the F'n rain or used as a river anchor on my river boat!

When requesting a NEW computer with HP they want to "pro rate it" since its over 6 months old. my comment to them is they have had it for 3 of the first 9 months! the rep tells me to keep complaining and they will eventually give me a new one! I told her on hernext charter we'll use the piece as a $2000 flasher! I could beat my wife because she wanted this one over the sony and the toshiba because it had a big screen!

What should I do????? Invite the rep out on a river trip and do it the Itiallian way? Throw the piece of #$@$ out? or deal with "Joe" in India on the phone for 3 f'n hrs? GOD I'm PISSED! this took me 20 min's to type at home....maybe I'll shoot the piece of #@$@ in the morning goose hunting! my boat isn't even out of the water and I've got an attitude! This is going to be a long winter!

I know Vista is very bad,I have had real good luck with Dell units and there suport is top notch. We use Comcast and have no problems.I say call HP every day and bug them. Squicky wheel gets the grease.

If you do not have at least 2 GB of memory in a system running Vista forget it. I find that 4 GB is the must have if you expect to run any office programs on top of it.

Comcast works fine for us. I have several HP laptops at the office that run without issue.

Maybe I have a lemon! this is the unit she has. I guess it was more like $1400 if this is the one.... http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/HP-Pavilion-dv7-1020us-17-Widescreen-Entertainment-Laptop-FF214UA- ABA/sem/rpsm/oid/215032/catOid/-12963/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do

That should be enough to surf the net and answer emails and play with some pictures I would think? And per Tom's recomendation they also had the one with the intel core duo 2 processor.

I can't speak for anyone else, but from my own past experience, i once spent over two grand for an hp and i did so at circuit city, never ever again, first off they were high priced, they had all kinds of issues w/ their service agreement which i don't dare go into, and to top it all off circuit city didn't claim any responsibility for the machine just told me to send it into the manufacture. And when i did so they were slow w/ their service and when called they transferred our calls all over the friggin' U.S. untill at last we finally wound up in chicago just to find out that they weren't even aware they had our pc. well after all this bull chip i talked to quite a few people just to find out hp farms out their repair work. And to top it all off they swapped out parts on our p.c. that were in no way effected by the malfunction we turned it in for in the first place. So i wouldn't recommend hp or circuit city in anyway shape or form. I've always had better luck at best buy, but again that's just me. Hope ya' have better luck w/ your machine and business w/ them then we had, in my mind those are two places that will never again get my business in any manner, take care

Green horn you are exactly right. although we found them to have the best price for the puter "she wanted". I should have know because my home PC is an HP and its a piece also. It's ashame that we had the exact same experience you've had, but, i know the rep and she charters me 3 times a year. And she can't get anything done for me! I will never do business again with Circuit City. I agree with BFG I'll have to post pictures of the puter flying thru the air or have catch a bunch video.

Circuit City is going bankrupt if it hasn't already. They recently have been put on a do not distribute to list for computer manufacturers. So if they have computers they are either old stock or stuff the manufacturers are trying to dump. I would think twice about any good Circuit City deal.
