Could you use another new member?

I stopped in at the Ladies angler thread and decided I'd pop in here too.
My husband and I are involved in fishing both as a past time and for a vocation.
Right now we are fishing steelhead, love fall and winter fishing especially when
it involves big fish.
With our mild winters fishing is a big past time in our area....which just changes
species as the seasons change. Gotta love areas that are full of rivers, lakes and streams.
Sooo, if you will have me I'd like to hang around a bit.
Judy

Hey we're always up for new members - glad you signed on - and glad you posted. I read in your other post that you run a guide service - very cool. I am also making my passion a vocation - with this site and the company we started to build sites like this. Deciding I loved fishing enough that if I could I was going to make fishing and sports-related activities the focus of what I do for a job. No guiding or chatering for me - although I do a lot of it for friends and family River fishing for Trout and Salmon is next on my list - haven't done that since I was a youngster. Drift boat is in the near future.

Summer 2006 - Floating the Green River with Brother, Nephew, and anybody else that wants to come - so I better learn how to handle a drift boat in a hurry huh?

Good luck with the web enterprise…sounds like a lot of work. As I have to maintain our two websites I can either sympathize or congratulate you, depending on which day it is……
Drift boat...sounds like work, but I know a lot of people that do that a lot. I personally like a good jet sled. Go fast, and get upstream quick. As I am not familiar with your Green River, what is it like and what do you primarily fish for?

Guess it's not yours I thought it might be in Idaho - but looks like Wyoming and Utah and then merges with the Colorado. So you use jet boats huh? That sounds fun, and looks fun from what I've seen on TV. Checked out your site - pretty cool - got to love those sturgeon - we get some around here (not me personally) but not the gigantic ones you have pictured - are those like 100 yr old fish.

Jet boating is fun, especially into the Hells Canyon area, riffles and rapids...or being able to run into very shallow water areas. They are a great fishing tool.
As for the big sturgeon, yes. some of the big gals are pretty close to that hundred year mark. In our area we do have a few fish in the 11-13 foot class but they are rarely beached, just to many things that can go wrong with fish of that size. Most of our trophy class fish run between 6-10 feet. It is an awe inspiring experience to try to handle a fish of that size......
If I remember right the Green River is well known for its big trout? Is that the plan, float and enjoy some good fishing and have a good time? Sounds like a good vacation to me.

yeah that's the idea - float and fish - from what I hear the Green has huge rainbows - steelie class - except that they never run the big lakes or ocean. From what I can tell there are 15+ lb. class fish - that's huge for a non-sea run fish.

My sister used to live in Salt Lake and my brother and I have skied there for years and made some trips to Arches and Moab - I have mountian biked Moab (when I wasn't a fatty LOL). We just love the scenery and have talked about doing it for many years - now we are going to do it.

You have any experience with Drift boats? I've been looking at Hyde, Clackacraft, and Ro ... have any opinions?

No expeerience with the rowing kind of boat...I'll ask a couple of the guides that work with us. They have or have had drift boats so they may have a little information....I'll share.

Of course, Washington is a great trip...especiallly the East side...we have sunshine in the summer!
No moss under every tree, no fighting to find a rock to stand on when fishing season comes and no 6 lane freeways! LOL
What can I say? Love my state but especilly where I live.
Back to the chores.
