Was looking through the hooks still trying to make my decison and ran across the Gamakatsu Octopus Circle and their blurb said that they were legislated for Salmon in California . I've used them many time for saltwater fishing and they are awesome for hook ups. Just wondered if nayone knows people using them here?

We use these (barbless)for C&R sturgeon fishing. Works great, and easy to free fish without struggle.
Never tried them on salmon.....How are you using them for salmon?

Not exactly sure if they are vertical jigging - mooching - I'm thinking about experimenting with spoons, flies, squids and stuff ... the thing I like most about them is that if you get a hookup it usually stays hooked up. It's a little weird not being able to make an agressive hook set but I can't remember losing a fish that was hooked. Except for the black-tip reef shark tha chewed through the leader - although you almost always get the fish with the leader clear and free.
