I was wondering if anyboady has been tracking in their fishing logs the effect on moon phase on our fishing? I know it is important with tidal areas but I wonder what the effect might be on our fishery.

On the same subject - how bout high and low pressure and fronts?

let's hear what ya got!

Greg,
I have and have noticed the most difficult fishing conditions during a full moon. We will usually have a slower morning (due to over night feeding I presume) but seem to have a stronger mid day bite. I'll schedule my time off for fishing on a new or partial moon.

I have seen the same thing as popeye. During a full moon the early am bite isnt what is is during a new or partial moon. The midday bite during a full moon is however better during the full moon in my experience.

A few years back, I was talking to a very successful pro at a tournament and he said the Full moon would definitely affect the strategy for that tournament. His advice was "the bite will shut off completely by 9am, from 9-11, you can run any baits you want, because the fish aren't going bite anything but, you better have your proven baits back in the water from 11-1, when the bite picks back up".

I agree with Popeye and Wingnut,
If its a clear night and a full moon the morning bite is always slower and late morning early afternoon bite is better. I also find the best morning bite occurs on a dark moon phase.

Strike Two interesting point. I will definitly have to keep that in mind when fishing this year and see what happens.
