Yeee Haa , I got a box in the mail yesterady from Off-Shore tackle , 6 new SST in-line planer boards for me for next season , good thing too as I have been running the reg. Off-Shore inline boards and I lost 2 this year. Also got a package from Fishlander , some new Ultra-Glow spoons that Mike sent me. Yee Haa , thank you Santa! Now I can cross a couple of the items off from the Spring Show shopping list . Thanks to Larry from Off-Shore and Mike from Fishlander for the early Christmas.

Norm , you have a private message sent to you.

The Off-Shore SST board is designed to work pulling lead core a little better , I never had a problem with the older ones. They also come with the snapper release on the front and a small red release on the rear. I had converted my older boards to the snapper release so I really like these with the release already on it. Also the flag is missing on these , which is a good thing as I removed my flags as I don't like it when they get wrapped or tangled in the line when landing a fish. Fishlander has a lot of new ultra glow colors and more coming out along with a couple of other new products , can't wait till spring show time to see all of the new stuff. I believe Off Shore has a new big board setup coming out as well that pulls even right along side of the boat, will have to wait and see.

Rick, What are the big differences between the Offshore boards and the Church's? We use the Church's boards and I really like the quick-release pin. These sound similar to me...is that right?

Tom

The SST Off-Shore boards have a snapper release in front { you can add them to any board by purchasing the release from Off-Shore } and just a red pinch pad release in the rear. With the snapper release , there is no chance of the board coming off because even if the line slips in the release , there is a pin on the end of the release to prevent it from coming off completly. I have used the Church boards as well and I do like the pin in the rear but with the red pinch pad release on the Off Shore it is also a one handed operation to get the board off. I have no problems with the Church boards but I prefer the Off-Shore boards as a personal preference because it is what I have been using for several years for off shore steelhead and they have worked good. I will have to see how much difference there is in the older board and the new SST board but I know the SST board is a little heavier and designd to pull lead core and heavier lures. Now for spring brown trout or walleye there may be a different board that works better but I try to keep all my boards the same so they track all the same in the water. I have used some of the old Willie boards and they did ok but I think the Off-Shore board is better under all conditions , just my opinion.
