i know this is going sound like a stupid question but how do you attached the planer board release to the line from your pole( what keeps the release from sliding up and down the planer board line" ?

if you are talking about big boards and i assume you are? then the release does slide up and down the planerboard line. BUT once you let it out (let line out so it slides down to the position you want it) and engage the reel the drag from the reel keeps the release from sliding further down and the angle of the planerboard line sloping down towards the water to the planerboard keeps the release from working back towards the boat.

its gonne slide back and forth a few inches here and there when you are moving up and down in the waves but its gonna end up right back where you put it.

hope that helped

yes on the big boards, i get it now. i've never used them so i thought i was missing something but it all makes sense now. i picked up a 5' big jon dual planer mast and planer board at a yard sale ($30 bucks for two large uni trols with the swivel mounts, weights and the planer board setup) 6( not sure what the brand the board itself is but its a single board design.
thanks

It should only take a couple trips to get use to how to use them. Lamberajack hit it on the nose...very simple..

a good method to spread a lot of lures out over a good distance of water

The fact that the releases aren't fixed in position is an advantage. When one of the lines takes a hit and is released you can simply let out the rest of the lines one position and reset the tripped line as the closest to the boat. When i used big boards a lot it wasn't unusual for me to have a dozen empty releases that had slid down to the board before I had to bring the board in to retrieve them. That is a bit risky though as they would all be lost in the event that your line to the board breaks.
