We fished on the evening of 7/24 and managed 6 for 9 with two breakoffs and one standup on the rigger. We started off deep and worked our way in as the night went. Only one of the six fish was hooked in the jaw, and the other five swallowed the entire bait. Beautiful night on the lake, but we did donate some tackle, so back to the tackle store once again.
On Saturday morning (7/26) I brought out a friend, his son, and one off his son’s friends. They had never fished on the big lake and were pretty excited. Unfortunately we ended up 2 for 3 with one steelhead, and one undersized laker. The company was great, the weather was nice, but the fishing was a bit disappointing.
Sunday morning (7/27) was a different story. Trophy 2352, Happy Pappy, and his wife Chris were aboard. We ended the day 15 for 20 or 21 ( the log book fell a bit behind for a while) and finished up at about 10:30. We only ran ten rods, but every rod produced at least one fish. We were blessed with a quad, the fish on the dipsy got off, but the rigger rod had a king on the slider and a laker on the mainline, so four fish were still boated. Most of the trip was between 120-130 fow. The north troll produced the majority of the fish. Fish were taken from 5 colors of lead to the bottom and a mix of spoons and flies. Most of the spoons that took fish had some orange in them, other than that there was not a great pattern. Eight inch spin dr’s, 10 inch spin dr’s, big paddle, and 8 inch protroll flasher all produced.

Great to hear from you mark. Let me know if you want to fish sometime. Hopefully someday I will be able to put two days in a row together. Brant

Erbentraut,

Did you have a rigger ball loose on Saturday or Sunday. I tried calling you on the radio as you ran by It looked like a weight was free but could not tell for sure. Seems like it is picking up this week also.

Phil, thanks for trying to get ahold of us. We did have a cannonball that got loose and was bouncing around. Thankfully, My dad noticed it before it tore anything up.
