The fall fishing in Ludington really cannot get any better for immature kings, steelhead and lake trout (but do not forget lake trout season closes today).

Fished both Saturday and Sunday straight out in 100 - 200 fow fishing a mix of spin doctors & flies and spoons. Finished Saturday 26 for too many to count, keeping a 4 man limit of 20 fish (11 kings, 4 steelhead, and 5 lake trout) with 6 trout released. Although we had rough seas on Sunday we still caught 25 fish, a mix of salmon and trout, releasing most of the trout.

Fish were active and eagerly biting riggers, divers and coppers generally fished 80' or deeper. Hot baits included Chrome/Blue 10" spinnies trailed with KRW Honolulu Hammer flies, 10" chrome/green spinnies with KRW riverside flies, and 10" crush/white with glow/mirage KRW flies. Hot spoons, mostly in magnum sizes, included Yecks in lightening, blue dolphin, ultimate (superglow) dolphin, green glow, and caramel dolphin.

Get out while the weather is still cooperating... Only one more trip for me this season, then the boat will be pulled for the year and it will be time to start preparing for 2009.
