Well the fish are out there - running between the 35s - 38s from just north of the port to the project. Had some very aggressive young kings that were eating magnums that were about half their size. Had to get below them - the bigger ones seemed to be under them. Took two really nice kings off of 30 lb. mono large slide-divers w/ rings 90 - 110 back running SpinDoctor II with blue krinkle and purple (something) flys. Threw some fish back - glad we are running the rubberband releases - would have never seen the hits on off-shore releases - they were tiny lil' kings.

Spoons that seemed to work were the wart-frog and dw lemon ice. Confirmed the same color patterns for other boats that were out - blues/purples - and green/yellow variations. Some guys had Walmarts working too. Taking more hits off the riggers - getting a little deeper as the water warms.

Congratulations on finding some big kings! Sounds like you are zeroing in on them. The colors are consistent with other reports I've read and so is the depth. I wish I could have gone...figures that the weather would finally have been nice the weekend I couldn't come along. Oh well, there is always next weekend.

I think it's already better than last year. We weren't catching much of anything until August.

yeah I agree - last year was difficult - both with thw weather and making the transition from Lake Huron style to Lake michigan style. Have a pretty good feeling about where we are so far.
