Recommendations for superline dipsey rods?
Currently using 8 1/2ft Okuma classic pro Med rod...works OK.

I like the TDR 1903 (9' Med Heavy) and 1953 (9'6" Med Heavy). But I may try some of the Talora Dipsey rods this coming season. I also have some Brownings that I like - but they don't make them anymore (10' Med Heavy).

I use 8'6" roller rods for my wire divers so I want my superline diver rod longer. The 9'6" Daiwa Heartland has performed flawlessly for me for superline divers and also pulls duty in other presentations like core behind boards, superline # ball rigs and flatline plugs behind boards for skinny water fishing.

I use the Diawa Heartland rods for superline divers as Jim does. You can't beat the performance/price combination.
I am using the Talora roller rod for my wire and am very happy with them so far.
Does anybody know if they are making the talora in a longer model, say 9'6" or 10'? I am considering trying both high and low wire setups on the same side this year and would like the longer rod for the high setup. Any suggestions?

I'm purchasing some Talora roller rods this year for thumper annd dipsey purposes in my search the only ten foot rollers I could find were the new Okuma Blue Diamond 10' (which say is a 1 piece rod - but I beleive it to be a misprint) rod and RP2 will make a 10' all roller rod for a mere $235.00. I haven't seen anything about longer Taloras.

T2S - any tricks or tips for the taloras?

$235.00
For that I think I'll stay with the Taloras! Seems that I paid around $150.00 each for them. Didn't have any problem with that since they are outfitted with the Aftco roller guides (best in the business) sure hope the Okuma rod has them too for that price.

No particular tips or tricks for the taloras. They seem to be happy in about any position in the holder (guides up or down) though for the wire to go over the tip roller they have to be up. Never had wire between the frame and the roller or any such problems. All in all outstanding rods.

Hope someone can talk to me about running wire on both high and low divers on same side.....how did that work?....any particular problems or issues to watch for? etc

I love wire too! I'm going to try two wire divers a side this year as well. I'll probably end up with the Okuma Blue Diamond 10'ers. I think you misunderstood Greg. The $235 was for the RP2 rods which are custom made with the Aftco rollers on an Ugly Stik blank. I don't know for sure but the price of the 8'6" Okuma roller was around $70 so the 10'er shouldn't be much more than that.

Luhr Jensen makes a 9'6" or 10'er too. I haven't used them but have heard that they could use a few more rollers. I guess the wire supposedly touches the blank when a big fish is on. Again, just heresay but from reliable sources.

I am having a freind put the aftco rollers on a heartland dipsey rod to get the length. If any one is wanting the taloras I can get them for around $100 including tax but for you guys in Mi I dont know how much it would cost to ship them out there. The Aftco rollers were cheaper than I thought and I am going to put swivel tips on my roller rods also.If you want pricing info on the rollers I found them at www.mudhole.com

Thats a great idea Coz, I think I'll look into putting the aftco guides on the Heartland rod like you suggested. Problem I hear most about the lower priced rigs is that the wire gets jammed between the roller and the frame of the guide. I looked at my Taloras and don't think I could make that happen if I wanted it to with the aftco guides.

I keep hearing that about the line getting caught in the cheaper rollers but still haven't had it happen. There must be a technique issue or something. Probably to do with the position of the rod in the holder.

i use Taloras for divers on the inside with 8'6" rods for the low diver. I have 10'3" Okuma for the outside divers. I have the old 10' Browning Siliflex for back-ups and for high lines and core. i also have a few of the Talora diver rods that I fun core on. I use an LJ roller rod for wire and it needs more guides like Jim mentioned. It should have at least 2 if not 3 more rollers. kind of a soft rod too. I am not that big of a fan of wire, but that is just me. I rarely catch anything on it when I do use it and it makes me nervous that it's gonna cut off a mono rigger rod. I have lost more tackle on wire than all others put together and I only have one wire rod. I will get into it some day. If i run it on one side and whiplash on the other, i am either equal or the whiplash is better. Just my results. I do have enough experience to suggest not getting the LJ roller. For the money you can do better.
