I have a friend who has a 19 foot bayliner with a AQ130C motor and a AQ270 outdrive he wants to put in a bigger motor. Is there a adapter kit to go to a 4.3 or maybe a 5.0 for that outdrive. Also would he have to change out the gears in the outdrive. Thanks

I don't know Volvo setups but every I/O I have worked on the bell housing was drilled for several motors. The 5.7 housing on my OMC is the same part number as the one on a 3.0 I bought for parts. I swapped the 3.0 out of a friend of mines 19 ft Bayliner for a 460 ford. The engine swap was a peice of cake however it took most of the summer swaping parts and props to get the gearing right. We tried to just reprop it however the 3.0 lower blew up the first or second time we got the prop to bite under full power takeoff. So back to the donor boat and changed the outdrive and prop then a couple more prop changes and it worked. In the end the boat was fast and an handfull to drive cause it was very twitchy. Good Luck

Volvo uses a couple / adapter housings (bell housings you can call them)
All the small block Chevy ones are inter changeable , the flex plate or coupler can be different depending on what generation crankshaft and crankshaft seal set up the motor might have
As for the gearing of the out drive VOLVO uses a standard upper drive and changes ratios in their lower half. For a V8 you would be looking for a 1.61-1 lower
So along with the larger motor you should be looking for a different lower half of the drive
I have some of this stuff lying around if you decide to go ahead with this project. First you will need the rite gear ratio to be able to find the correct pitch prop . If the gearing is not correct it will cause one related failure after another and become super frustrating
