With the family still out of town, I managed to fish Friday evening, Saturday morning, and Sunday evening. The river is still very high, muddy, and full of debris. I managed 3 legal fish on Friday, 3 on Saturday, and 1 yesterday.

Not great...and those 7 took a total of about 10 hours of hard fishing to get...but it'll only get better.

Carolina rigged floating jig heads with egg sinkers of varying weights (depending on fishing location) using short leaders (13-20") seemed to work best.

It was VERY crowded on Saturday morning, as with the high water levels, there are only a few decent locations to hit. Most left without fish...and were disappointed.

All fish were nice jacks in the 17-23" range. I did see a few females leaving the river as well. Things should improve greatly over the next two weeks. Water is still very cold...40 degrees on the button.

Corey...call me this week. I'm planning on fishing Tuesday, Thursday, and then for sure over the weekend.

boat is rigged and ready for fishing...first leg of LEWT is Saturday and JD is fishing that...pre-fishing the lake friday, tourney sat...and hopefully jigging the lake sunday...

i am not fishing the tourney on saturday as its a two-man team...i will either be handlining the detroit river or messing around on the maumee if the water ever decides to drop a couple feet!

let me know whats up...i dont fish the high water spots, so i got no clue where to go aroudnd there....

River should crest today Corey. Chance of rain tomorrow, but not that much. This weekend should be a smackdown.

I pulled my 4 in about 75 minutes last night.

Hey that's great Clark! Detroit river usually doesn't have luck until late April and the run usually only lasts a couple of weeks and the silver bass take over by mid May. This looks like a late year Though. it happens and the good fishing may not happen until Mid May. I haven't heard of anyone fishing Detroit river yet but it's usually frustrating and slow - 1 or 2 fish until late April. Never fished the Maumee. Little boat is ready though for handlining. Jigging just hasn't been as productive last few years. We've been killing them handlining the last few years and outfishing the jiggers several to one. I hope to take Little Dandy out handlining soon. My front yard pond just thawed out yesterday! Those fish also usually don't wake up until it gets a little warmer. Can't wait!!!!

I was thinking this would be a late year, but my current log almost mirrors last year's log as far as fish caught on what dates and locations.

One thing we've been having to deal with is high water, which concentrates the crowds...makes it tough to fish with a guy in your pocket.

Limits are coming out, but it isn't like they are jumping on your stringer. Knowing where to go and how to do it is the key. Seen lots of frustrated guys from out of town over the last few days.

I've been having reasonably good success. Feel free to PM me for details if you like.
