Where to catch 'em: (January 16, 2006)

Hey everyone, looks like the action is starting to pick-up in the rivers here in OHIO for Steelheads...read below for the update!

Most rivers and streams have moderate to moderate high flows and are slightly off-color but clearing. Good numbers of steelhead are well distributed throughout the rivers and small tribs. Anglers were having good success with eggs, minnows, or jig & maggot combinations. Fly anglers were using streamer, stonefly, nymph and egg patterns to get fish.

Vermilion River: Fish from the river mouth through Mill Hollow Park to Wakeman.

Rocky River: Fish from the marina up to the Cedar Point pools.

Cuyahoga River: Fish the harbor area and breakwalls up to the Rt. 82 Dam and into the CVNRA.

Chagrin River: Fish from the soccer fields to Daniels Park and I-90.

Grand River: Fish from the Fairport pier up to Harpersfield Dam. Note: Bridge replacement work on State Route 84 over the Grand R. in Painesville will disturb the immediate area; upstream migrations do not appear to be affected at this time.

Arcola Creek: Fish the beach and estuary pond area.

Ashtabula River: Fish from the Walnut Creek breakwall up through Indian Trails Park.
Conneaut Creek: Fish from the harbor up to the PA line.

Don't forget the daily bag limit of 2 steelhead trout and salmon in the aggregate valid from September 1st through May 15th!
