Being as i was bitten by the salmon bug last fall on the menominee river and catching salmon after salmon on diving lures, i have a question that's been buggin' me. [/b]And here it is: has anyone ever tried lipped diving baits like rapalas, storm lures reef runners and the like? If so i'd like to hear about your results, how you ran em' yadda yadda yadda, thanks for your consideration

I run Raps and Bombers in the spring when the fish are close to shore{under 30 feet of water}. I do very well on them. If you have a smelt run in your area like we do in Lake Huron I would suggest running them. Spoons seem to imitate alewifes and bombers and raps imitate smelt. I do best with Chart. and Chrome, Blue and Chrome, and Orange and Chrome or Gold. I run them off of planer boards with no weight in front of them. Hope this helps

Roy

My dad likes to run a red with black ladder tad-Polly state out the back down the center, he likes to run it on a ling pole with a no stretch fish line set way back. Hi gets a lot of fish in that setup.

Fastracs kill fish sometimes when they're in shallow water. Stickbaits are a mainstay when trolling for winter and spring brown trout. Sorry to hear about your job. I went through that a few years ago... not fun.
