They work WONDERFUL for walleye fishing. This was the first year that I've used them, and Keith had two with him for the Smackdown. We caught a lot of fish behind 'em over the course of the week.

Setting them up is a bit tedious...but once done...they work GREAT.

Seabee (Capt. Rob Presson) is a Pro Staffer for Slide Diver...send him a message and he'll get ya' going in the right direction as to their use/setup.

do you run a braided mainline like we do? i have some concerns about them sliding on the smooth fireline.

You can run 'em on mono or braid. There is a trick involved with using braid, basically you have to turn the piece of surgical tubing 90 degrees prior to engaging the release mechanism.

However...considering the way that these things were used at the time we used them, you could just splice in 20' of mono at the end of your braid and not worry about having to turn the tubing.

Like Clark said, the way I had/have mine set up I just uni to uni knotted on a section of mono to the fireline that the diver stayed on.
Works great.
