Like on the salmon side of the site, I was curious what the best walleye set-ups were for everyone this year? Also include where you fish, Erie, Saginaw bay, rivers, inland lakes or whereever. And if the best baits change throughout the season.

I'll be running a lot more NP's this season, as well as more Jr. Streaks. Looking forward to developing a program for different conditions and water clarity situations.

March-May: Rapala original F9/11, Fire tiger, orange& gold,clown and perch, used on the Det. river for handlining May-July; Rapalas,F11/13, Crawler harnesses,Bronze and Brass are always good, using bottom bouncers or snap weights. Hot-n-tots, you pick the color. Fall-Jan; Ripsticks,catdog,trailer trash pink,glowby,salamander and cheap sunglasses using snap weights. Crawler harnesses too,never underestimate the power of MEAT. I'm not endorsing any products, just stating what has worked for myself. BFG sounds as if they've got a good eye program going too.

Rapala F9's and J-11's..
Original color (chrome/black) and gold/black. Some days these baits save the day.
I still maintain that the Rapala Taildancer may be the best warm water crank for walleyes on Lake Erie that I've ever used. I have both the smaller size and larger size, and by far the larger size out-fishes the smaller. We run them 50-75' behind the boards with no weight on most days. Typically take our largest fish with them in the warm water months.

Mini divers with mini spoons (mostly silver streak jrs but some stingers too) was my prefered method most of the year.
Spoons: Skittles or Confusion (copper) Copper Hot Rod anything with pink (and copper) anything with orange (and copper) later in the season, spoons with antifreeze back
Cranks: Thundersticks - Rosemary's Baby & Green Spec Wiggle Warts - Green Spec, Blue&Silver w/red lip, Chartruese. Hot'n'Tots - blues, greens, anything with orange belly
I don't mess with worms even though they shine at times.

I'll fish anywhere I can get the boat too. I live Downriver, usually launch at Erie metro or sterling. Do a lot of river fishing in the spring, no jiggin here!!! We do a lot of night fishin, not much traffic, if you know what I mean. Handline in spring, then its on to the lake. OK, guys... Coming from someone who is COMPLETELY walleye illiterate... How fast do you normally troll when you are running the dipseys and boards with the spoons and cranks? I realize that with crawler harnesses and such you are real slow, but is it the same with the dipseys? Thanks,

Guys with whom I fish typically target 1.5-2.0 mph when pulling divers, discs, cranks, and jets in the warm water months, somewhat slower in the early spring and fall.
I've taken fish over 2.5 mph, but they were snappin' that day.
Harnesses require slooooow speeds...like .8-1.4 mph. Too fast and the "spin out," which is not good.
Went to a PWT weigh-in at Port Clinton on Good Friday a few years back, and the #1 presentation for that weekend (according to the winner) was a firetiger hatchet harness 10' behind a black diver (standard ring) at 1.3 mph.
Those boys had some pigs...wow...

We troll 1.8 - 2.2 mph on the gps with the jets and dipsys...if ya run much slower with the dipsys, they will just sink like a rock, snag the bottom, line frays and snaps, and then ya loose a $20+ dollar setup...I know from experience
We have trolled some crawler harnesses with the dipsys at the same speed, but prefer to use them early or late in the year when we are running at the slower speeds. We run the cranks 0.8 - 1.4 mainly, but have bumped up speeds slighty to get better success...
1.8mph was best speed pulling cranks last Sunday in Brest Bay...

I like to run baits anywhere from 1.0 to 3.0 knots depending on the water temp. Most of the time I like to run around 2 knots for Jets and Spoons and Crank baits.
