Hey guys, I know must of you all use Braided fishing line. I'm still stuck with the old monster mono line. I want to switch over my dipsy rods and a few of my leadcore rods to braided line. but the prob is that i can't seem to find any uner $100. I can't seem to get myself to pay that much for fishing line. it just don't seem right to me. is there a place that any one knows of tht i might be able to get some good line for under $100. E-bay is not an option. some one got me on Ebay and it cost me $300 for a damn cell phone. so i no longer use Ebay thanx all

Careful what you mean when you say "fill a reel" in relation to braid. You only really need a max of 100 yards of braid and fill the rest of the spool with mono backing. Makes it a lot cheaper. 300'/100 yds of braid is plenty for almost any Dipsy situation.

Good point. I forgot to mention that I too use a backing. I do not fill the whole real with rip cord. I bought a large spool at the time and put 300 yds. on each diver rod.. That was 6 years ago, last year I reversed them to put the weatherd stuff on the bottom and new to the top.

well that would cost way to much if i was to fill the reels with all briaded line. I think that i will use the mono backing and then put the braid on. thanx for tell me. I'm still kinda new to all of this big lake fishing. i will figure it out one day
thanx again.

Larry,
I'm on my fourth season with the Fireline that I run on my dipsey rods. I'll probably change it out this year, but you know how well it works. I, too, spooled up with mono then put about 100 yds of Fireline on. It's always worked great for me.

Larry,
If you can afford to keep at least 1 mono dipsy do it, for fish high in the water column. Use a slide diver on the mono dipsy you wont be sorry.

I will try to remember that. thanx guys.
I have 2-3 dif color slide divers. I got some 50# rip cord on it's way. should be here 1-5-07 or on 1-6-07.
i still have some red cajun that i spooled up with 2 years ago. 20# test. I should have enough to get the reels ready to slam some fish
I got some new reels and a few new rods and a bunch of tackle from big papa. I'm ready

(Bill, I might have to fish with you and Gary all summer do to the fact that i spent all my money on rods, reels and tackle. not sure i will have enough to pay the marina for a slip.)
