Hit a farm pond yesterday afternoon with CMFish51. Set out 2 tipups with chubs and then we each had two jigging rods. Ended up catching 7 bass, largest at about 18" or so. No sunfish, which was interesting, as this pond has a good population of mature sunnies. Had good clear ice, at least 10" thick.

Had something on for about 15 seconds that was ripping line off the reel, but ultimately I was cut off on the hole. Whatever it was, it was heavy.

Great to get out again, hoping to hit some perchies or gills again this weekend with Corey and JD.

Three years ago, this guy stocked two dozen 11" Wipers in this pond. He has yet to catch one, but I would not be surprised if that is what I had on yesterday...

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!!!!!!!! Blink!!

Interesting little pond...Thanks for the invite Clark!

I am sure that the front shut the fishing down, but to get that many bass in a couple hours was pretty fun....We had some pretty good sized chubs on the tip-ups, i bet some walleye shiners would tear those bass up in there ! ! !

Sure would have like to see what you had on Clark!

White bass/Striper hybrid. They are very popular in inland lake systems in the south. They grow to 12-15#. Maybe that's why we didn't catch any sunfish..hmmmm...

Yowzaaaaaa!

LOL

Supposed to be 64 here on Wednesday...I'd say the ice fishing is done, and the river will be flushed by the end of next weekend.

Heading out with Corey, JD, and a couple other buds tomorrow for some ice-out perchin' on Lake Erie.

Report to follow..
