do you love the most?

For me, it's just being out on the water - don't get me wrong I love the challenge of fishing but just being out there makes me sane. If I miss a weekend - I can tell - and right about now I'm going nuts.

The part of fishing I love the most is being able to make decisions on the fly based on current conditions, and having them pay off with fish in the boat. To me, fishing is like solving a mystery. You have to collect clues and put them together in such a way that they point you to the solution. When it all comes together and rods start popping, man it's good to be alive and fishing.

Peace of mind !! the quiet, just the motor and the sunrise. there are times when my skipper, aka Wife doesn't come and I'll cell phone her on the evening bite and tell her about the sunset and weather, it's normally good for a fish. called one night and just said " I love my boat " even my mother in law knows I'm going crazy waiting for warm weather !

Read my lips...It's the water!

I love being around it, sitting and looking at it, being out on it, feeling it's movement and power, watching it change moment by moment...everything about it. My sister says I was born with the "Boat Gene", but I think really it is the "Water Gene". I could never live in the Southwest...not enough water for me. I can feel my attitude smoothing out the instant I'm by the water.

I love the whole water experience , even the ocean calms me. I love the hum of downrigger cables in the early morning , the gurgle and rumble of the exhuast in the water when trolling and the exhuast ports come out of the water , the scream of a drag on a diver rod when nobody is paying attention , the crackle of some one on the radio takling about the fish they just farmed out , the yell " Fish On " from the back of the boat , the erie apperance of other boats coming and going in a light fog bank , the sound of a frieghter blasting his horn off in the distance , the early moring sun as it is just cracking over the dunes from the east and dancing on the water and sky , the smell of hot coffee mixed with a little Irish cream , but most of all I love the sound of sleeping on the boat and hearing the water gently lapping against th hull in the morning. The whole weekend that I'm on the boat I feel so relaxed and down to earth and refreshed . Gee , winter just got here too !

I just love to be out fishing. Does'nt matter where. Fish are just extra bonuses. There is no better stress remover than water running past your legs in a stream or the throb of the boat engine while trolling. Fortunately for me, it I'll get a chance to go more often since I will be retiring from WORK very soon.

Rick--yeah I am planning on Jan 19 & I'll talk to Mike about it tomorrow. We usually plan on making the winter meetings. I have to admit--being an ROF (retiredoldfart) has its perks. Because of what I do, there's a big demand, and so I still work 6-8 days a month, but I always send in a memo blocking out days I can't work, and I "encourage" them to lump the days I work together so that I can work 2 or 3, then have a week or so off. Too bad you can't make it Mon--I think that with the weather break we've had, we may have some luck. Wait til you see my boat next spring--I'm having Jeff take off the flybridge, just like his dad did with the "Ruthless", then they'll put a radar on top.
