We fished pretty much from McDonalds to Sputnik both days. Here's a shot of 1st place boat Offshore Addiction fishing the same water on Sunday morning.
For those of you who are just getting started fishing on Erie and asking about the lingo on the recent Erie Report threads, Sputnik in the background. (41* 49.5'N 83* 11.4W)

Let me start off by thanking Hal, Mike, and Clark for their awesome efforts in getting this thing going. I cant wait for next year let's double our participation for 2009.
Fishing was fantastic again this year and our date seems to be properly timed with the fishing. If you haven't made it yet start planning for next year now and clear those schedules, get your boat ready, and line up your crew.
I fished Day One with Capt. Paul aboard the Walleyehead (aka Salmonhead) and as we did last year we fished with salmon gear and put a 5 man Ohio smackdown on them - with 30 eyes coming to the back of the boat. We fished from McDonalds (N 41 47.00 W 83 15.50) to Sputnik (N 41 49.00 W 83 13.00) and it took us a bit but we determined the fish were holding to the east side of the channel so we trolled down the east side as tight as we could without slipping into the deeper water of the channel.
Day Two saw our illustrious Capt. Paul unable to answer the bell so we loaded myself and SalmonRoy aboard the Offshore Addiction with Capt. Gary and away we went. We ran out to Sputnik overshooting it by about a mile North and we ran back and set about .5 mile north of sputnik to set up our troll. We trolled a few laps again holding to the east side of the channel and caught our 3 man limit of 18 fish in quick order.
It was a great time hanging with everyone, telling tales, and eating way too much fabulous walleye, fixings, the cajun beef tenderloin, WI cheese, dips, salads, and those brownies (yummmm) Thanks to Lady Bridge and the Fry Machine that was awesome - thanks to all the preps and chefs that got all the fresh chips and food cooked - it was wonderful.
See everyone again next year!

I want to echo all the sentiments that everyone else has posted! It was a great time and really fun to see everyone. We put a hurting on those 'eyes for sure!
Many thanks to Roamer, Little Dandy and BFG for all their work behind the scenes organizing and preparing the Smackdown. And thanks for picking up the slack for us when we were too busy to pitch in! Without their efforts, this year's event would not have happened.
Thanks to Rick (Lady Bridge), Nancy, and crew for the Fry Wagon and all the hard work cooking and cleaning up...you guys rock! That was some really excellent fried walleye and chips. Come on over here to Grand Haven and we will get you hooked up on some big silver fish that fight back.
And Lance...that beef tenderloin was to die for! Oh and Brant's venison jerky and mexican salad rocked, so did Steve's walleye cheeks dip, and the brownies, and Reid's bean dip, and the cheese, and, and, and, and...did I mention that there was a ton of great food???
Thanks to Mike, Steve and Dino for taking Jen and I out and teaching us the ropes...you put us right on the fish, and showed us how to catch em. Our freezer (and our bellies) thank you!
To all those members who didn't come this year, you better plan on showing up next year. This was a big fun, high-quality event for the whole family. We had great fishing, great food, great conversation, and great times long into the nights.
Thanks again to everyone for all their hard work...and thanks to all the sponsors who pitched in! I had a ball...

Alittle late wanting to get my post up on the Smackdown. Had to leave early on sat to go to work sunday a.m.early and attend my grandsons graduation. Had a great time saturday fishing aboard the FishMaster with Paul,Brant, Roy & Greg. Had a lesson on how to use the net. Paul,- I really will do better next time on net duties ! . What a blast to visit with friends and a great day to top it off along with the food. Hats off to Hal, BFG, Mike & all the rest that put alot of effort and time to putting together such a wonderful event. http://www.educatedangler.com/components/com_joomlaboard/emoticons/appl.gif Hope to be there next year and hopefully stay longer. Thanks to everybody who supported and organized the smackdown. Special thanks to everyone who spent the afternoon cooking. The food was awesome, my fingers are missing a few layers, I had a hard time waiting for the food to cool down. It was good to meet a few fellow anglers and even better to spent time on the water with nearly constant action. Even though the walleye action was great, the white bass, sheepies, and steelhead made the trip even better. I can hardly wait until next year.
