I don't think the Thompson boats are prone to rotted transoms and stringers. The problem with mine was there were many holes drilled in the transom I think the previous owner changed transducers every season. The holes were then just painted over. I had it repaired and it has been a solid boat since. My only complaint with the Thompson Fishermen is the dead rise on the hull is quite shallow and trolling in windy conditions requires a great deal of attention at the helm. I like the large unobstructed cockpit, it's really nice during perch season.
