Drove out at 5:00 with 3 man work crew onto a flat lake and went to 48 - 08 where I caught fish Sunday. Keith, Big Bill and myself. Weeds were bad and after a hour or so of cleaning them we thought the North east side of the island would shield them from us. The winds were SSW. We were right and in about three hours we had about 14 walleye on but got 8 in the boat. Weeds weren't bad using the island to block. We missed at least 6 confirmed eyes! Oh well. We marked a lot. The waves started to kick up and the next thing you know we were pulling lines and fighting 3 - 4 footers home. Lady bug early was ripping hot then Kevork circ frk. then moonshine spoons at 9:00. 90 and 100 ft. - back dipsys at 2.2 - 2.4.

Rick from Anger mgt. I got your message but we were already on the lake when I got a signal and we were already catching them. I know you called about 3 hours earlier. Thanks. I'm glad that 48 08 area is working for you too. We had to move a couple of miles east though as the weeds were bad there in the evening. Shoulda done better! We had them on. Didn't get 'em all in!

Steve, I went to the same spot Thursday after you gave me the points lots of boats early. Only got 3 eyes and had 2 get off at the boat. Used harnesses until the batteries died then trolled spoons with no luck so we packed it up. Weeds were really bad should have moved as you did; will know better next time. Thaks for your help. John

John,

I have used this trick many times not only to block weeds but waves also. I've used it in Rockport at Middle island and I've used it at Leland with North Manitou island. I've used West sister to block for over 20 years.

Were you out in your dad's boat? Did you call? I wasn't getting a signal and saw Rick's call on my phone around 6:30 - 7:00 p.m. but was only call on cell. I would've gladly given clean location. So many weeds that night!

Steve
