For you guys that fish Au Gres for springtime walleye and silvers. Where do you launch? Where do you fish? Thanks!

P.S.
I already figured you launched at the ramp and fished in the lake.

Hey Jim,
First time there for me this past Saturday. Few things I can share. The first light- 4 way stop out of town just past the Gas Station on your left,,, you turn right follow that down to the public launch.
Very nice launch and can handle probaly anything trailered in there. The channel is about a 5 minute ride out into the Lake. The key once getting out into the main body from the guys I fished with is do not start cutting right over to the point once out. You will see the point to your left when you get out (where we fished) and another one to you right. Get out till you can almost draw an imginary line beteewn the two then start you turn to the left. It is my understanding the there are a lot of Rock piles that jut up through that area between the channel and point.
We fished inside the point and followed the point all the way out to about 16' of water and back again.
Like I said my first time there, I'm sure someone has way more info then I could share.

Fish-On!
Mark

Thanks Mark. That's good info on how to navigate to safe waters. There's a similar deal up in Presque Isle except there are actually two lights up on a big hill that you need to keep lined up until you get safely out of the bay there.

There are two places to launch in AuGres. The first is jut north of town and it is the DNR ramp. It's on the river and should be open water from what I hear. Nice facility just past the river turn right and you will go directly to it. Water there is a bit hazardous as a lot of rocks and shallow reefs are in the immediate area. Head out a way before fishing.
Second launch is the Citgo station about 1 mile north of town by the Northport facility. The new owner of the storage facility is suppose to be getting the bouys out early this year, as soon as the ice is out of the marina. It too has very shallow water on either side of the channel. You can work your way out slowly and miss the problem areas. You need to go out about 1/3 mile past the structure on shore before you are in clear water to you port side.
Fish the shoreline around point Lookout, giving the Point wide berth and running the shore. You also can fish off of Whitestone point to the crib at Alabaster. Watch for shallow water off Whitestone Point and the area out from the Singing Bridge. Good Luck

I believe Brandy2's report is very accurate.I would add nights might be better on certain days---does this sound like Yogi Berra.
