This thread discusses the Content article: Great Lakes near ecological breakdown

This is absolutely frightening. We all take the lakes totally for granted...they've always been there for recreation, drinking water, transportation and of course...fishing. It's scary to magine that the whole Great Lakes ecosystem could take a dive. We need to become more involved and do whatever it takes to help our precious resource survive and prosper.

definately scary stuff. We are all concerned about getting kids into fishing so the future stays strong, but we better take care of what we have now, or we wont have a future. Lets hope the right things get done and try to get involved where possible. Its not always easy, but joining clubs like the steelheaders and others like it is a good place to start.

It is scary to think that all that water out there could become useless without proper care.

Hello, I'm new here. I have a link under cool links. It is my Great Lakes website where you will find pictures, maps and information about the Dynamic Great Lakes. My book, The Dynamic Great Lakes deals with ecological issues and encourages people to get involved in the democratic process. So the new report is scary, but we can make good decisions. Keeping wetlands as buffers against pollution and flooding is just one way to mitigate the problems.

By the way, white fish are running. I baked one in butter last night and ate it. I'm not dead yet.
