Direction of Troll

Cook My Catch - Top Ten

Since it is the beginning of the season, and everyone here is getting set to lay the smack down on some of our favorite fish, I thought I would share my 10 favorite recipes for cooking this delicacy. So here they are…my ten favorite ways to eat salmon!

Smoked Salmon Brine
2 cups packed brown sugar

Ramblings of a Salmon Lover

How many of you have heard this conversation or something similar?

Wife’s friend Julie: My husband is a fishing fanatic.
Wife: Really, so is my husband, he makes his own flies.

Wife

Bailey's Brown Trout

Many people consider the annual Bailey’s Harbor Brown Trout tournament to be the start of their Wisconsin big lake season.  It is a great tournament where you can fish any Door County waters, including from shore, and for a measly $25 per person you have a shot at winning some cash back by placing in the top 60.  I thought it would be a great way to start out a few tournaments this year by taking a shot at these shallow water browns.  It started by meeting Keith Shisler (C...

Most of rack storage’s biggest advantages are convenience related.  ...

Our Great Lakes Walleyes

The Great Lakes and their connecting waters are the perfect example of how big water can produce big fish.  Some of Michigan’s best hotspots for trophy walleyes are Great Lakes bays and the rivers that link them where ‘eyes have access to a bountiful food supply, excellent habitat and plenty of room to roam.

Pier Fishing for Big Water Trout and Salmon

There was a time when I felt sorry for boat-less anglers who were restricted to fishing from piers and breakwalls. It seemed that they were at a major disadvantage. Rather than wait for the fish to come to them, anglers in boats could hunt for fish, searching them out wherever wind, baitfish, the spawning urge and current would take them. Pier anglers seemed to be too restricted.

But savvy pier anglers know that structure attracts fish. Breakwalls, piers and jetties and the structure the...
