Now this sounds good and easy to make!

Smoked salmon often finds itself in a starring role at hors d'oeuvres parties because there are so many different things you can do with it. One delicious smoked salmon recipe uses a technique stolen from a common grilled cheese sandwich. It is called smoked salmon and gruyere cheese country toasts.

First, thickly slice country bread then grate some gruyere cheese ? which is similar to Swiss cheese. Grated cheese melts more evenly than sliced cheese.

Top one slice of bread with grated cheese, add smoked sliced salmon, more grated cheese and place the other slice of bread on top. Butter one side and place butter side down in a medium hot pan. Carefully butter the other side.

When the first side is brown, gently turn it over and turn the heat down to allow the cheese to melt. When it is done, turn it out onto a cutting board.

If the sandwich is to be used as a hors d'oeuvre, you might want to cut the crusts off and cut it into small triangles. These smoked salmon and gruyere country toasts will be a hit at your next dinner party.
