Big Water Techniques for Smallmouth PDF

I live in michigan; we have some weird law up here about drop shot - it's basically illegal.??But a tandem?dropshot is legal, as long as the weight is?a bait?it's legal.? Tie up your favorite jig rig but add a dropshot hook just like normal and put a bait there too.? This is a good technique anywhere and works well in Jeff's opinion for big water smallmouth.

He uses football jig heads for fishing the rocks and a stand up weedless jig head for the weed beds - duh!? A standard tube over jig, with the weight pegged for heavy weed.? Jeff likes to use a 7' - 7'6" 'popping rod' - limber tip with a good backbone - 8?to 10 lb. test, clear and green.? Another crossover technique that Jeff uses on occasion is drifting and dragging when you need to track down scattered fish.

Use a drift sock strategically tied to get your boat sideways to the wind, put you main motor down and use it's rudder to help control your boat.? Once you get your drift set, just ride it jiggn' - no make that burpin' - as you go.? This should be a familar technique for those who are walleye fishermen, but if you don't want to eat your batteries up use the conditions to your advanatge.?

I can't wait to get out there and hook-up on a nasty Lake Erie smallie.? Bring it on.
