Registration stations in the Gannett Wisconsin Newspapers Master Angler fishing contest have seen an increase in entrants this week as fish settle into their summer feeding patterns.

A 38-inch chinook salmon was landed by Brooke-Lyn Warren of Green Bay. Warren was fishing out of Algoma with a dodger-fly combination when the 21-pound, 10-ounce fish hit.

Lance Busse, Appleton, was throwing a bucktail on Little Lake Butte Des Morts when a 41?-inch northern pike slammed his lure. The fish weighed 17 pounds, 2 ounces when registered at The Sportsman.

A 39?-inch northern was caught by Greg Nacius, Menomonee Falls, while fishing on Lake Poygan. Captain?s Cove weighed the fish at 15 pounds, 7 ounces. The fish hit a Shad Rap.

White Lake gave up a 42-inch northern to Joe Van Handel, Combined Locks. Van Handel was using a spinner when the 14 pound, 4 ounce pike hit.

Michael Flauger, Shiocton, was fishing Gresham Pond when he landed a lunker largemouth bass. The fish weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces and was caught on an imitation lizard.

A 20-inch smallmouth bass was caught by Jeff McMorrow, Kaukauna. The fish weighed 4 pounds and was taken on a jig and minnow combination while fishing the Wisconsin River.

A night crawler proved to be the bait of choice for Adam Nuthals, Little Chute. Nuthals caught a 12 1/16-inch yellow perch which weighed 1 pound, 3 ounces. Bob?s Bait and Tackle in Green Bay handled the weigh-in.

A jig and crawler combination worked for Jon Piechowski, Neenah. Piechowski was fishing in the Fox River when he landed a 14 pound, 14 ounce flathead catfish.

Registration stations are available across the Gannett circulation area and hours vary. Anglers should contact the closest station as soon as possible after the fish has been caught to ensure the most accurate weigh-in. The contest runs through Sept. 30.
