A fishing tournament scheduled to take place in Winona next year is expected to have a $1 million economic impact on the area.

The city is hosting the finals of the Wal-Mart F.L.W. Walleye League fishing tournament in September 2005.

The Walleye League tournament finals will feature 100-thousand dollars in prizes and take place September Eighth through the Tenth.

F.L.W. Walleye League organizers estimate the economic impact on Winona will be $1 million, based on an average four-day stay by anglers, sponsors and spectators.
