The 11th edition of the Gander Mountain Oswego County Pro-Am Salmon and Trout Team Tournament will be held July 8 and 9 in the ports of Oswego and Mexico.

"Last year's tournament, although rocked by windy weather, had 64 teams participate. Anglers caught over 500 fish," said Captain Troy Creasy of Pulaski, who is organizing the event along with the Pulaski-Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce. "We are once again excited that Gander Mountain is the major sponsor of all three Lake Ontario Pro-Am tournaments. Again this year, Great Lakes Tackle Supply is the sponsor for the Challenge Cup Series that includes tournaments in Oswego, Niagara, and Wayne counties. The Pro-Am event is the perfect stage to present fishing tackle and information to an eager audience of over 400 anglers in our Oswego County event alone."

The tournament will include a Sportsman Flea Market from 1-7 p.m. July 6 at the tournament headquarters tent behind the Best Western Captain's Quarters Hotel, 26 E. First St., Oswego.

Professional and amateur fishing teams will have the chance to win over $30,000 in cash prizes, with over $5,000 going to the winning team in the Professional Division and $3,000 going to the winning team in the Amateur Division.

Payout prizes for both divisions are based on a 50-team minimum. Teams placing up to 10th place in each division qualify for cash prizes.

Last year, 26 amateur teams and 38 professional teams competed. There were anglers from Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Vermont, in addition to those from New York.

Teams may fish out of the port of Mexico or the port of Oswego. Weigh-ins, and the tournament barbecue and awards ceremony, will all be held at the tournament headquarters tent behind the Best Western Captains Quarter's Hotel in Oswego.

The deadline for mail-in registration is July 1. Walk-in registration ends at noon July 5 at the Pulaski-Eastern Shore Chamber of Commerce, 3044 state Route 13 in Altmar.
